Tory Lanez Bags 10 Years Imprisonment For Shooting Megan Thee Stallion

Tory Lanez, the Canadian rapper convicted of shooting US artist Megan Thee Stallion in the feet during a drunken dispute after a Hollywood party, was sentenced to ten years in jail on Tuesday.

After hearing how Lanez had commanded the hip-hop star to “Dance, bitch” as he shot at her several times while she stood on the road, a Los Angeles judge handed down the sentence.

Lanez was sentenced in December after being convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, discharging a firearm with gross negligence, and carrying a loaded, unlicensed firearm in a vehicle.

Prosecutors had asked for a 13-year term, claiming Lanez had left physical and emotional scars on the “WAP” singer.

Lanez’s counsel had requested probation or three years in prison, as well as obligatory rehab, including treatment for alcoholism.

Judge David Herriford said in a lengthy sentence hearing that began Monday that he had received more than 70 letters on Lanez’s behalf, including from celebrity pals.

One was from musician Iggy Azalea, whom he said had requested a sentence that was “transformational, not life-destroying.”

Another was sent in by Lanez’s young son.

However, Lanez, who has been imprisoned since his conviction, was sentenced to ten years in prison.

He stated that the prosecution had established two aggravating factors, involving the use of a weapon and a vulnerable victim, but had failed to establish that the offense made up significant cruelty, viciousness, or callousness.

Megan Thee Stallion, actual name Megan Pete, was in a car with Lanez, his bodyguard, and her friend Kelsey Harris after a July 2020 party at Kylie Jenner’s luxurious home.

She and Lanez, whose actual name is Daystar Peterson, had grown close in the months leading up to the incident.

Harris, who only learned of the sexual relationship that night, had a “crush” on Lanez, she told the court, and an argument then erupted in the car, with Megan Thee Stallion demanding to be let out of the vehicle.

The “Savage” rapper said she saw Lanez pointing a gun at her and opening fire

“after he said, ‘Dance, bitch.’”
