Tobi Amusan Sets Another Record In Diamond League Win

Tobi Amusan won another major Diamond League match today as she prepares to defend her World Athletics Championships title.

The Nigerian sensation won the tough women’s 100m hurdles in the Silesia Diamond League in Chorzow, Poland, with a powerful finish.

The meeting record was equaled by the world record holder (12.12 seconds), who finished ahead of the stacked field in 12.34 seconds.

She finished narrowly ahead of her competitors for next month’s Budapest World Athletics Championships, with Keni Harrison of the United States of America second in 12.35s and Nia Ali, another American, third in 12.38s.

Megan Tapper of Jamaica finished fourth in 12.49 seconds in one of the meeting’s closest races.

South Africans Akani Simbine and Wayde van Niekerk also flew the African flag high in Poland, winning their races.

Simbine won the men’s 100m in 9.97 seconds, with 0.02 seconds separating the top four in another close race.

Niekerk won the 400m in a season’s best and met a record time of 44.08 seconds.

Yulimar Rojas improved on her own triple jump world lead and set a new meeting record with a 15.18m leap in her sixth and final try to win the event.
