Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, has resigned following allegations of certificate forgery leveled against him.
The development was confirmed on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, who disclosed that the President has accepted the minister’s resignation.
According to Onanuga, Nnaji tendered his resignation in a letter to the President, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation since his appointment in August 2023.

“President Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following some allegations against him,” Onanuga said.
“He resigned today in a letter thanking the President for allowing him to serve Nigeria,” he added.
In his resignation letter, Nnaji reportedly claimed he had been a target of blackmail by political opponents, which he said contributed to his decision to step down.
President Tinubu, in his response, thanked Nnaji for his service and wished him success in his future endeavours.
