President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in two newly appointed National Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Abdulrazak Tukur, representing the Northwest, and Sunday Aja from Ebonyi State, representing the Southeast, took their oaths of office during a brief ceremony held at the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Their appointments, initially announced in November, followed confirmation by the Senate after screening.
In the same ceremony, Ikpeme Ndem from Cross River State and Justice Buba Nyaure from Taraba State were sworn in as members of the Code of Conduct Bureau.
The event took place shortly before the commencement of the 27th meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), which later proceeded into a closed-door session.
Among those in attendance were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. Also present were key cabinet members, including the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.
At its previous meeting on May 5, the council approved the Renewed Hope Nigeria-First Policy, a strategic initiative to prioritize the use of locally produced goods and services in government procurement.
