President Bola Tinubu has announced plans to construct a new national secretariat for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.
Speaking at the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party, held Thursday at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, Tinubu stated: “We’ll look for an appropriate land to build a befitting secretariat.”
While the president disclosed the intention to establish a new headquarters, he did not provide details regarding funding or the projected cost of the project.
The APC’s current national secretariat, the Muhammadu Buhari House, is located at 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja. The property was named in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari in June 2021 by the party’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, following the full payment of N2.5 billion for the building. The party officially moved its operations there later that year.
Although previous NEC meetings were held at the Buhari House, Thursday’s emergency session was convened at the Presidential Villa.
