President Tinubu has expressed his sorrow over the passing of Adewunmi Onanuga, the House of Representatives’ Deputy Chief Whip.

According to PUNCH Online, Onanuga passed away on Wednesday after a brief illness.

In a statement issued by the special adviser to the president on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday, Tinubu described the late lawmaker as a dedicated servant of her constituency and an inspiration for women in politics.

”She never stopped serving her constituency, and her passion for building a better Nigeria will remain unforgettable in the hearts of those who came in direct contact with her.

”Rep. Onanuga was also a role model for women in politics, demonstrating that with hard work, integrity, and dedication to just causes, women can be effective leaders in politics,” Tinubu said.

The statement noted Onanuga’s role as Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development in the 9th Assembly and as Deputy Chief Whip in the current 10th Assembly.

On behalf of the Federal Government, the President extended his condolences to the late lawmaker’s family, loved ones, the government, and the people of Ogun State, particularly her constituents.

He prayed for God’s comfort for those mourning her loss and eternal rest for her soul.
