This Party Won’t Die In Our Time, Abia APGA Chairman Declares

The chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA in Abia State, Hon Emmanuel Egwu, has declared that the party will not be allowed to die in their own time, decrying the factionalisation of the party in the state.

At a meeting in Umuahia on Friday, he accused those behind the factions of attempting to disrupt the peace of the party and the state in general.

Egwu stated that the essence of the meeting is to discuss a way forward for the party and how it could perform better in future elections.

While calling on members of the party members to always put him and the SWC members in prayer to be able to run the affairs of the party, he said it’s a thing of shame that Abia State chapter of the party could not secure victory for a candidate in the last election apart from the senatorial seat of Senator Enyinanya Abaribe which gave the party a seat in the senate.

Egwu said he is eager to make sure that the party is united to succeed.

He also urged the members to keep praying for the candidates of the party who contested during the last elections in their court cases to get back their mandate.

Egwu thanked one of the governorship aspirants of the 2023 election Etigwe Uwa SAN for standing by the party despite losing the party during the primaries.

As peace-loving people, Egwu noted that the party is patiently waiting for the national body to set up a reconciliation in order to unite that party.

He noted that after the general election there was a ward congress which was from the ward level, to local government level, down to the state level which produced him as the state party chairman from the month of May to June, saying he is the duly elected chairman.

Egwu said the end of the crisis has come as he never lobbied for the position of the state chairman adding that by God’s grace with the mandate given to him he will lead the party forward without hitches.

He said ‘’Even in the quest to make sure we have a better APGA I want to enjoin all of us to make sure we have one formidable APGA, there is no division in the party and I don’t believe in faction.

‘’That we are in opposition does not mean we are going to be in attack dust, we should be a credible alternative checkmating the party in power, criticize when necessary believing that the party in power will do well.

‘’Going forward what we need to do as a party is to bring everybody on board, be it the people that seem not to agree with my style of leadership make them see reasons why we should be one party’’.

In attendance at the meeting include one of the party’s aspirant for the 2023 Governorship election, Etigwe Uwa SAN and other State working committee (SWC) members.
