The Executive Secretary of Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation and the DG OUK Movement, Rev. Mrs. Jemima Ola Kalu has held a thanksgiving service at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Umuahia, Abia State saying it is a covenant she made with God.
Speaking with ABN TV shortly after the church service on Sunday, Rev. Mrs. Jemima Ola Kalu said she has earlier made a vow that if the corruption case brought against Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, founder of the Foundation, she would personally go to God’s altar with friends and family to thank God, saying it is a prayer answered.
She expressed resounding joy over the verdict of the federal high court.
Rev Ola Kalu said the genesis of her joy and the thanksgiving ceremony was because she made a vow to hold a thanksgiving with friends and family if the verdict favours her principal, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
In her words: “I made a vow and I entered into a covenant with my God that if the EFCC judgement of 29th September should go in favour of our principal, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, I will come here with my friends and family to thank God. God answered our prayers”.
“Only God made it possible for Senator Orji Kalu to scale through EFCC hurdles.
“It is only God that answered our prayers, no man did it for us”. Ola Kalu said with tears of joy.
Rev Ola Kalu also urged all Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s Supporters to remain committed and keep hope alive.
Mother of the Senator, Elder Mrs. Eunice Uzor Kalu was represented by the Women Leader Reality Organization, Mrs. Ngozi Orji while the group members were also present.
Members and officials of All Progressives Congress, APC were also present including members of OUK Movement from across the country.
At the thanksgiving service, Sen. Kalu, Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate was represented by Commissioner of Federal Character Commission, Dr. Madukwe Ukegbu.
Dr. Ukegbu expressed gratitude to God for the court judgment at the federal high Court Abuja which held that Sen. Kalu cannot be retried over corruption allegation, having been tried and justice dispensed.
Dr Chidia Maduekwe, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) and party faithful of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) also expressed joy on the purpose of event.
“God is faithful, and today is the gathering of those who are faithful, so we are here to celebrate his faithfulness in our lives as have seen through the miracle he has done on our leader”.Dr Chidia said.
A media aide to Sen. Kalu, representing Abia North, Hon Maduka Okoro at the thanksgiving service expressed gratitude to God that the former Abia governor is now a free man through the verdict of the court.
According to him, God has done a wonderful thing worthy of thanksgiving, expressing optimism that He will do more incoming day.
“We have come to celebrate the goodness of God, in saying ‘touch not mine anointed and do no harm to my prophet’ so we are happy that God has delivered Orji Kalu from the hands of his enemies”, he said.
