Teenager Lures Man From Lagos To Osun, Robs Him Of N1.5m

Police have detained a 17-year-old girl who is accused of using social media to lure her victim from Lagos in Osun.

On Tuesday in Osogbo, SP Yemisi Opalola, the command’s spokesperson, announced this.

According to Ms. Opalola, on June 28, the victim was persuaded to go to Ikire in the Irewole Local Government Area by the youngster.

She claims that the girl conspired with additional suspects to deprive the man of his phone, which they then allegedly used to transfer N1.5 million from his bank account.

“On June 28, at about 1.30 p.m, a complainant reported at Ikire Police Division that he met one girl (name withheld) on social media and they started chatting.

“He added that he was later invited to come to Osun from Lagos State by the girl.

“He stated further that when he came to Ikire, the girl lured him to her boyfriend’s house where he met some unscrupulous elements who attacked him and collected his phone, which they used to transfer the sum of N1.5 million from his account,” she said.

The police spokesperson continued by saying that as soon as the incident was reported, investigators from the department sprang into action and detained the suspect and one Ariyo Ayobami at their hiding place.

While efforts were being made to apprehend further individuals, she said that preliminary inquiry also resulted in the arrest of another accomplice.

Ms. Opalola added that on July 10, officers of the command detained two suspects in Ilorin, Kwara, who were in possession of an automobile that had been taken at gunpoint from the Osun home of a complainant.

She stated that the victim claimed on May 11 that three guys who were equipped with guns and other dangerous weapons attacked him at home.

He was robbed of his possessions and two Toyota Camry automobiles worth over N12.46 million by the thugs.

Following that, according to Ms. Opalola, intelligence gathering brought detectives from the command to Ilorin, where they apprehended two people in possession of one of the stolen cars: Abdulwasiu Jato and Kolawole Iwalaye.

She claimed that a 2012 Toyota Corolla that was believed to have been stolen was discovered in their hands.

Six further armed robbery suspects who were terrorizing drivers at the Aba-Ede Junction on the Osu-Ile-Ife highway, according to Ms. Opalola, were also apprehended on July 9 by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad.

The command spokeswoman stated that following the conclusion of the inquiry, all accused would be charged in court.
