A non-governmental organisation The Challenges Initiatives (TCI) Abia State Chapter has set up a family planning unit in some select hospitals in the state as well as counseling units.
The group also renovated some health care facilities in Ossa Oke in Obingwa L.G.A and Umuola Egbelu in Aba North L.G.A as well as the provision of chairs and a procedure room where family planning implants are carried out.
TCI had on Friday taken newsmen round some initiatives it is putting in place in a bid to amplify awareness on the need for family planning.
Our correspondent gathered that some health care facilities in the state are wearing a new look through the efforts of The Challenges Initiatives(TCI) geared towards educating the rural dwellers on the need for family planning.

Speaking with the service provider of Ossa Oke health care, Joy Nwachukwu on how far they’ve gone in sensitizing the people on the need for family planning she said “the sensitization is being done in churches, in meetings in the market place these are areas we go for sensitization on family planning”.
She however highlighted as some of the challenges being faced as provision of consumables, including wool, gloves and others.
These she said are primary needs in carrying out the family planning.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to TCI over the new development in their health care and pleaded with the state government to support the TCI in making sure that all necessary health equipment and drugs are been provided.
