A family planning advocacy group, The Challenge Initiative, TCI has honoured ABN TV with award of excellence in recognition of it outstanding contribution to the success of Family Planning programme in Abia State.
Similarly, the group also honoured the Director of the leading online medium, Mr. Ifeanyi Okali for the efforts he has made in making family planning a huge success in the state.
At the award ceremony on Thursday in Umuahia, TCI also gave awards of excellence to Flo FM Umuahia, BCA Radio Umuahia and Vision Africa Radio.
The event marked an end to the Media Advocacy program implementation of TCI with Dev.com.

Speaking with journalists, the State Project Coordinator of TCI, Dr Obasesam Etowa said “When TCI came we didn’t Immediately engage with a media forum, we paid for individual media slots for a period of time and we saw that, that wasn’t sustainable so along the line towards 2020 last year, we taught it wise that for us to have a sustainable program, a program that when we leave we leave something behind.
“We decided to bring media representatives together like this to form themselves into a media group so that even after we exit there be a remembrance and something they will continue doing on their own, I thank God today we’ve achieve that to an extent.
“So our meeting today is to look at some of the things we have achieved, the things we have done as a group and to also draw the curtain for the media Advocacy program in Abia state. Due to the fact that we implement our Media program through Dev.com so we are ending our program with them today (Thursday). But it doesn’t mean that TCI has stopped working with the group.
“Every project has a timeline, the project we gave to Dev.com to implement their timeline ends today so that is why there is need for the group they have mentored to know that they are ending today. But TCI as a platform who’s Dev.com grows on top is not ending yet in Abia state, so that why we are here today to look our achievement, things we have done and the way forward.
“Also we are seizing the opportunity to recognize those that have contributed to the success of family Planning program”.
He also stated that through the collective efforts being made, the State Government has released some funds for Family Planning in the State.
