Tax Fraud: Brazil Head Coach Carlo Ancelotti Receives One-Year Jail Term

Carlo Ancelotti, the head coach of the Brazil national football team, has been handed a one-year prison sentence for tax fraud, according to a report by The Sun UK.

The charges stem from 2014, during his time managing Real Madrid.

Spanish authorities found that Ancelotti had concealed income related to his image rights. However, he was acquitted of separate tax offences from 2015, also linked to his image rights earnings while at the Spanish club.

Despite the conviction, Ancelotti is unlikely to serve time in prison. Under Spanish law, non-violent offenders without prior convictions typically avoid jail if their sentence is under two years.

Ancelotti managed Real Madrid from 2013 to 2015 before moving on to coach Bayern Munich. He later held managerial roles at Napoli and Everton before returning to Real Madrid in 2021.

He left the Spanish giants again in 2024 to take the helm of the Brazil national team.

The 66-year-old Italian was accused of attempting to evade over £833,000 in income tax. While he has consistently denied any wrongdoing, Ancelotti has previously underpaid taxes.
