Take Advantage Of Electricity Act – NSE Tells Govs

The leadership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, has urged state governors spread across the country to put in place mechanisms that will enable them to generate power for the people.

The society, which noted that the days of relying solely on the national grids for power generation are gradually coming to an end, challenged the governors to, as a matter of urgency, commence the process of supplying power to their residents.

Vice President of the NSE, Danladi Adamu, said this while presenting a paper at the 2023 Engineering Week of the Jalingo branch on Tuesday.

State governors, according to him “don’t have to rely on the national grid before thinking of making power supply available to their people residing at various locations.”

He said following the enactment of the Electricity Act, governors can now provide power to residents without depending on the national grid.

He urged them to partner with companies or investors experienced in power generation to achieve the target.

Adamu also urged the Taraba State Government to expand Mambilla beverages for an increase in productivity. He urged the government to increase the tea farm, buy more equipment, and construct the Tunga Dam so the factory could have enhanced productivity and generate revenue for the state.

The said tea company, which is located in Mambilla Plateau in the Sardauna local government council of the state, is said to be the largest tea factory in West Africa.
