Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to brand and deal with as terrorist bandits whom he said are shooting down military fighter jets and not to negotiate with them.

In a radio interview monitored by ABN TV, Sen. Abaribe, representing Abia South wondered why President Muhammadu Buhari has refused to negotiate with the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB but rather chose to discuss with bandits in the North East and North West.

The former Abia deputy governor said the federal government should be held responsible for the activities of IPOB in the South East over its failure to negotiate with the group.

“You don’t write off one option and say ‘we won’t do it’.

“For us from the South East, something is very difficult for us to comprehend. You are very willing to talk to foreign Fulanis who are invading Nigeria, and causing mayhem here.

“You are very willing to talk to the people you call bandits. Of course, I have always told you here that I don’t believe that they are bandits, they are terrorists” he said.

The federal lawmaker also wondered why the President whom he said is willing to pay ransom and talk to bandits in the North is not extending same gesture to South East where IPOB has been branded terrorists, rather he uses iron feast to deal with them.

He said the country under President Muhammadu Buhari is in a serious problem that must be tackled holistically.
