Senator representing Abia Central at the National Assembly and former Governor of Abia State, Senator T.A. Orji of the PDP has emerged Abia’s best Senator.
The Senator was voted Abia Senator Of The Year in a keenly contested poll organised by an Abia-based leading and independent media organisation, All Facts Newspaper.
The other Senators featured in the poll are Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC, Abia North) and Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (PDP, Abia South).
Results of the poll which were made public today by the media organisation saw Senator T.A. Orji polling 42.4% of the total votes cast while Senator Orji Uzor Kalu who came closest garnered 39.2% of the votes with Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe polling the rest.
Senator T.A. Orji’s contributions on the floor of the Senate part of which led to the passing of the Law backing the establishment of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) among others, his annual scholarship awards to indigent students of Abia origin in higher institutions which entered its 6th straight edition this year, building of classrooms in primary and secondary schools, his Free Eye Surgery Initiative which have seen hundreds of his constituents have their cases of blindness reversed, empowerment items and start up capital distributed to SME operators among others have seen Senator T.A. Orji’s popularity among the people rise astronomically.
The Award as Abia’s Senator Of The Year will be presented to Chief Orji at the All Facts Newspaper Summit/Awards Night holding at the Damgrate Hotel, Umuahia, on the 9th of December, 2021.
