Supreme Court Upholds EFCC Legality

The Supreme Court dismissed a suit filed by several state governments challenging the legitimacy of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), ABN TV reports.

This ruling is a significant victory for the EFCC, solidifying its mandate to combat financial crimes in Nigeria.

The suit, instituted by some state attorneys, questioned the EFCC’s establishment and authority. However, the Supreme Court’s dismissal validates the commission’s role in investigating and prosecuting economic and financial crimes.

This decision reinforces the EFCC’s position as a crucial agency in Nigeria’s fight against corruption. The ruling ensures the commission can continue its efforts to tackle financial crimes without legal hurdles.
