Super Eagles Can Win Fourth AFCON Title In Cote d’Ivoire — Onyemaechi

Boavista defender, Bruno Onyemaechi is upbeat the Super Eagles can win a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title in Cote d’Ivoire next year.

The Super Eagles will head into the competition as one of the favourites.

Jose Peseiro’s men will face hosts Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau in Group A.

The Super Eagles last tasted success on the continent 10 years ago in South Africa.

Onyemaechi has however backed the team to go all the way this time around.

“You can’t predict football, things are getting tougher every day. There are no small countries again. I believe in the team, if we keep focus and maintain positivity in camp, then we can win the trophy,” Onyemaechi told Completesports.com.

“We are moving in the right direction at the moment, we have won three of our last four games which is good for our confidence.

“I believe we will be ready to compete and give our best in Cote d’Ivoire next year.”

The left-back is gradually becoming a regular in the Super Eagles after earning a starting berth in the team’s last three outings against Sao Tome and Principe, Saudi Arabia, and Mozambique.

The Super Eagles will begin their 2023 AFCON campaign against Equatorial Guinea at the Alhassan Quattara Stadium on January 14.

The three-time African champions will face hosts Cote d’Ivoire four days later.

They will do battle with the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau in their final group game on January 22.
