The long awaited musical competition, “Grab the Mic”, organized by the first and only functional Radio station in the entire Abia North Senatorial District, Sun FM 91.3 Igbere, Bende L.G.A of Abia state, is scheduled to start on February 7th, 2023.
The competition which is the first edition is designed to create a platform for budding artistes to grow.
This was made known in a statement signed by the station Manger, Stanley Mba on Monday.
Mba said the competition which has 10 contestants jostling for the price, will on Tuesday, February 7, commence online to test the social media presence of each contestant.
According to Mba, the competition is divided into three stages, the online segment, live Studio appearance and street battle.
Explaining, Mba who was twice the National Assistant Secretary, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), during the Ejike Asiegbu and Segun Arinze Administration respectively, said, fans of the contestants are expected to like photos of their preferred contestant posted on Sun FM 91.3 Igbere Facebook page, comment on the contestant photo and follow the sun FM Igbere Facebook page as well as the page of the major Sponsor, Right Choice Stores, a leading Electronics, furniture and multichoice Super dealer.
He said the Contestant with the highest number of likes, comments, and followers earns points.
This according to him will be followed by the second stage which is divided into two.
“Each of the contestants’ original Song will be aired at an announced date and time, for the listening audience to vote for their preferred contestant, after which each of the Contestants goes live on air to perform one song with their original instrumental,” he said.
“Elimination starts from the second stage and those who qualify for the semi-final will move to Bluespring Luxury Hotels and Resort, Ebem Ohafia, Ohafia L.G.A also in Abia state where they will slog it out before an audience that will determine who progresses to the finals”.
“The grand finale, tagged Street battle will hold at the isi gate area of Umuahia, the state capital, in the midst of people from all works of life who will with their voices, decide the winner, the first and the second runner-up”.
Mba revealed that there would be a financial reward for the winner of GRAB THE MIC 2024, a 5 track Album and the monetization of the artistes songs through streaming on every available platform, a gesture that will also be extended to every Contestant.
The second position will also receive a financial reward, and three tracks while the 3rd price comes with 1 track and a financial reward.
Other contestants according to him will also enjoy free tracks recorded for them by the partnering studios.
Mba said though it is the first edition, subsequent editions will be better, and extended his appreciation to the major partners, Right Choice Electronics Limited Aba, as well as Bovibes Entertainment Limited Umuahia.
He also thanked Xmix Studioz Aba, Zee beatz Studios Aba and Oni Stiches Aba, for supporting the project.
Mba further said more sponsors would be welcomed and called on all and Sunday to advertise with Sun FM 91.3 Igbere, a station he said provides the right vibe for the teeming audience.
