Nigerians have reacted angrily over the bill currently before the senate seeking to ban the importation and use of generating sets (generators) in the Country and to curb the menace of environmental pollution is currently before the senate.
The Generating Set( Prohibition/ Ban) Bill, 2020( SB.366 was read the first time at Plenary Wednesday in the Senate.
The Bill is sponsored by the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Muhammed Enagi Bima, All Progressives Congress, APC, Niger South.
The former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode wrote on his Facebook page:
“The Senator that sponsored the Bill to ban generators in Nigeria & send those that sell or use them to jail must be insane. He ought to be tied up, placed in a straight jacket, put in a strong sack filled with weights &dropped in the deepest & darkest part of the Atlantic ocean”.
