The special squad of Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Mohammed Bala has won the second edition of a trophy put in place by the police boss to encourage outstanding performance in the command.
That was part of reward system by CP Bala to put his officers and men at their very best in the command and encourage their gallantry in busting crimes.
The trophy seeks to reward best performing DPO/tactical Command in addition to the sum of N20,000.00.
It was won by the Anti Kidnapping Unit of the Command during its 1st edition on 22/12/22.
The 2nd edition which took place on 26/01/23 saw the emergence of the CP Special Squad led by ASP Augustine Eze as winner of the edition.
The CP Special Squad within the period 22nd December, 2022 to 26th January, 2023 arrested four kidnapping suspects whose confessions led to the recovery of one(1) AK47 rifle with 67 live ammunition laden in two(2) magazines and three(3) vehicles. They also arrested one suspect that stole two(2) children sometime in January 2022 and rescued the two stolen children.
The Commissioner of Police, CP MM Bala presented the trophy and cash sum of N20,000.00 to the officer in charge of the Squad while them to sustain the tempo and remain firm, professional and dogged in their policing. He also urged others to see it as a challenge to have a taste of the gesture.
Officers were encouraged to put in their best as they carry out this onerous civic duties as enshrined in the Police Act, being apolitical as the election approaches.
