Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth Leaders Endorse Amb. Sukubo For NYCN Re-Election (Photos + Video)

Southern Nigeria Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders (SNENYL), representing 107 ethnic youth nationalities, have unanimously endorsed Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo for re-election as President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

The endorsement was made at the Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth Leaders’ Summit held at Confidence Hotel, Umuahia, convened by the Southern Nigeria Youth Assembly and the Supreme Council of Nigeria Youth Stakeholders.

Hon. Chuks Moses Njoku, President of Southern Nigeria Youth Assembly, delivered the opening remarks, welcoming participants and formally introducing Amb. Sukubo. In a symbolic moment, the staff of continuity was handed to Sukubo by the immidiate past President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Worldwide, Amb. Arthur Obiora, who praised Sukubo’s first term achievements in scholarship programs, youth empowerment, job creation, and security initiatives.

“This endorsement is well-deserved. Amb. Sukubo has done all these with his bare hands. Re-electing him will only amplify the impact. His first tenure brought unity among the youths, created opportunities for the marginalized, and fostered national cohesion,” Amb. Obiora said.

Amb. Emmanuel Amadi, representing Etche LGA, highlighted Sukubo’s success in creating over 280 youth jobs in the oil and gas sector through strategic partnerships with investors, including Belema Oil, and enabling internships abroad for Nigerian youths.

“He ensured Nigerian youths are galvanized and properly engaged. Upon their return, these youths will be integrated into the system to contribute meaningfully to national development,” Amadi stated.

Amb. Umoh Oyokuni of the Oron Youth Movement, Akwa Ibom State, called for increased youth sensitization on voting rights and civic participation, insisting that Sukubo’s focus on youth issues makes him the right choice.

Amb. Matthew Sekibo of Ogoni Kingdom commended Sukubo’s maturity on sensitive issues, including his balanced approach to national questions like the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, stating that while Sukubo cannot interfere with government decisions, he remains a voice for Southern youth interests.

In its communiqué, SNENYL reaffirmed its commitment to the unity, development, and progress of Nigeria based on justice, fairness, and equity. The youth leaders pledged to work within the law to ensure Sukubo’s victory in the 2025 NYCN National Congress, promising to sustain peaceful coexistence among youths across the Southern region.

Hon. Njoku concluded by emphasizing that the endorsement was based on Sukubo’s track record of diligence, integrity, and results-oriented leadership.

“We are confident that in his second term, Amb. Sukubo will give us the best and continue to build on the foundation he has laid,” he said.

The summit ended with renewed calls for Southern youths to unite, participate in nation-building, and support initiatives that enhance their inclusion in governance and economic development.
