Site Engineer Beaten, Buried In Shallow Grave By His Own Employees In Delta (Photos)

Delta State Police Command has launched an investigation into the gruesome murder of a site engineer, Chigozie Udalor, allegedly killed by his employees after they discovered he had a large sum of money in his account.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the incident came to light after a report was made on December 12, 2024, by one Hyacinth Nnalue at the Akwukwu-Igbo Police Division. Nnalue, who identified himself as Udalor’s cousin, informed the police that the deceased had been missing since December 10, 2024. He also revealed that Udalor was the site manager of his fish farm located at Bod Camp in Akwukwu-Igbo community.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) commenced investigations and later transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department. Acting on the directive of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, the DPO Ekpan, CSP Aliyu Shaba, deployed operatives for a technically driven investigation.

Their efforts led to the arrest of one David Tacho on March 31, 2025, after he attempted to withdraw money from the victim’s account using his phone. Another suspect, Daniel Orshio, was also apprehended in connection with the crime.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the murder was planned by four employees of the deceased. The suspects, identified as Victor Tacho, Pius Daniel (both currently at large), David Tacho, and Daniel Orshio, allegedly conspired to kill Udalor after discovering his financial status. They reportedly struck him on the head with a hammer, tied him up, and buried him in a shallow grave at the site.

While two of the suspects, David Tacho and Daniel Orshio, are currently in police custody, the authorities are intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing accomplices, Victor Tacho and Pius Daniel.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been exhumed and is awaiting autopsy. The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and justice will be served.
