Interpol Systems Consultant, Sir Chikwe Udensi has condemned the attack which led to the death of traders at the Omumauzo cattle market/abattoir in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, saying it is unacceptable.
While commiserating with the families of those who lost their loved ones, he commended the state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu for his swift intervention in investigating the root cause of the matter with the aim of arresting those who perpetrated the dastardly act.
Featuring on a radio programme Open Parliament on Wednesday, streamed live by ABN TV, Sir Chikwe urged the government put adequate security arrangement in the affected places to avoid a situation of reacting after an incident has occurred.
“We don’t wait for these things to happen before we take action. We must have a preventive measure to forestall their occurrence. We must not fail to plan properly” he said.
He said anywhere around the state where there is flow of transactions and exchange of cash, there should be adequate security arrangement to avoid a recurrence of the Ukwa West cattle market attack.
The Abia State governorship hopeful also called on the state government to fish out all those who perpetrated the act and ensure they face the full weight of the law.
