Seven NSCDC Officials Killed At Kaduna Mining Sight Laid To Rest Amidst Tears

The remains of seven personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) ambushed and killed by bandits have been laid to rest in Kaduna State.

This is contained in a statement by NSCDC Director Public Relations, Mr Olusola Odumosu, on Sunday in Abuja.

Odumosu recalled that the operatives were slain in Birnin Gwari community on Jan. 9, while on the routine duty of protecting a mining site in Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna State.

He said that the corpses were handed over to families and loved ones of the deceased at the NSCDC Kaduna Command after a brief interment ceremony.

Dr Ahmed Audi, Commandant General (CG) of the Corps, bade the officers and men goodbye when he paid his last respect at the lying-in-state ceremony, held on Saturday.

Represented by Mr Idris Adah, Commandant, Kaduna Command, the CG praised the efforts of the gallant officers who lost their lives in defence of the country and described them as “Heroes, never to be forgotten.”

The CG assured families and the next of kin of the deceased of the timely dispatch of benefits accruable to them.

He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for consoling and remembering the Corps in its time of grief.

The CG said that the Corps would not be deterred by the unfortunate incident, rather, it will spur the organisation into more aggressive action against the people’s common enemy.
