Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau, describing him as a peaceful and visionary monarch who lived a life of humility and service.
In a condolence message shared via his official Facebook page, the former Abia State Governor recalled his personal encounter with the late Emir, noting that he was the last Nigerian to be turbaned by the monarch, receiving the traditional title of Jarumin Gusau.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau. He was a peaceful, visionary, and accommodating monarch who always placed the interest of his people above personal interest,” Kalu wrote.
The Senator hailed the late traditional ruler as a unifying figure who played an important role in fostering peace and understanding across religious and ethnic divides in Nigeria.
“Nigeria has lost a bridge-builder,” he noted.
Senator Kalu extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Zamfara State, the Gusau Emirate Council, and the family of the deceased royal father. He encouraged them to take solace in the legacies of humility, leadership, and dedication left behind by the late Emir.
“The Emir’s legacy of service, humility, and peace will continue to inspire generations to come,” Kalu added.
