Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North has made a public appeal to President Bola Tinubu to consider increasing the number of states in the South East region to six.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Senator Kalu argued that creating an additional state in the region is long overdue and would address issues of equity and fairness. He specifically advocated for the creation of Anioma State, which he believes is the most viable option among other proposals.

Former Governor of Abia State, Senator Kalu’s appeal comes as the Nigerian government continues to grapple with issues of regional development and representation.
