Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North has congratulated labour unions for accepting the new minimum wage of N70,000 approved by President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement released today, the former Governor of Abia State, Kalu praised President Tinubu for prioritizing the welfare of Nigerian workers, acknowledging that the new minimum wage is a significant step towards alleviating their suffering.
The Senator also commended the Minister of Labour, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief of Staff to the President, and other stakeholders involved in the negotiations.
Although Senator Kalu had initially suggested a minimum wage of N90,000, he expressed satisfaction with the agreed-upon amount, noting that it is a “decent minimum wage.” He also welcomed President Tinubu’s promise to review the national minimum wage law every three years.

Senator Kalu urged Nigerians to be patient with the President’s administration, assuring that this development is a sign of better things to come for the country.
