Senator Condemns Killings In Plateau, Urges Action From N’Assembly

Senator Pam Dachungyang, representing Plateau North, has strongly condemned the recent wave of killings by gunmen in parts of his constituency, especially in the villages of Jol, Rim, and Jebu.

Describing the attacks, which have claimed over 30 lives, as “an indictment on all of us,” the senator called for urgent and decisive action to end the violence.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his media aide, Eric Dung, Dachungyang highlighted the dire situation in Jebu village, likening it to a war zone where innocent villagers, mainly farmers, are being targeted.

“The events unfolding in Jebu, particularly last night, resemble a war situation and must be condemned by everyone. Our people, whose primary occupation is farming, are being severely affected, which threatens their means of livelihood,” the senator said.

He also revealed that he has contacted the leadership of the National Assembly, urging them to adopt practical measures aimed at removing terrorists from the state permanently.

“This disturbing situation has compelled me to appeal to the National Assembly leadership for a practical approach to eradicate these terrorists from our land once and for all,” Dachungyang added.

Furthermore, the senator stressed the need to strengthen the current security framework in the state, specifically calling for a revitalization of the Special Military Taskforce to better protect lives and property.

He extended condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in the attacks and called for collective efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
