The people of Obolo, under the aegis of Concerned Obolo People Forum (COPF) have applauded the leader of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), Alhaji Yerima Shettima for supporting the emergence of the Senate Chief Whip, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu as the President of tenth Senate.
COPF in a statement on Friday signed by the Publicity Secretary commended Shettima for appealing to a Senate presidential aspirant, former governor of Zamfara state, Abdulaziz Yari to step down his ambition and support Sen. Kalu.
COPF described Shettima’s move as patriotic to strengthen national unity.
The forum says the emergence of Kalu a former governor of Abia State as the Senate President of the 10th Senate from the South East will go a long way to douse the being experienced in the country aftermath of the 2023 general elections.
The statement reads in part, “Following the resolutions reached at the Central Executive Committee Meeting of Concerned Obolo People Forum (COPF) on Friday 2nd June, 2023, the Administrator General of Concerned Obolo People Forum (COPF) on behalf of the BOT and the Central Executive Committee, most respectfully appreciates The leader of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), Alhaji Yerima Shettima for his patriotic step taken to plead with the Former Governor of Zamfara State and frontline Senate Presidential aspirant, Senator Abdulaziz Yari to concede the Senate President to the Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
“The Obolo people in Nigeria cut across the South South and South East Nigeria, covering Akwa Ibom State, Rivers State and Delta State. We are supporting the position of Alhaji Yerima Shettima for the sake of peace, equity and the unity of Nigeria.”
According to the forum, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has been a strong supporter of the All Progressive Congress in Nigeria and has worked so hard for the emergence of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President of Nigeria.
It expressed the unalloyed support of the people of Obolo for the emergence of Kalu as next President of the Senate come June 13, 2023 when the tenth National Assembly is expected to be inaugurated.
