Senate Presidency: North-East, North-West Senators-Elect Backs Sen. Orji Kalu

The move for emergence of a new leadership of the 10th senate of Nigeria’s National Assembly took a different turn yesterday as Senators elected on the platform of the All progressive Congress (APC) in North West and North East zone unanimously

vowed to ensure equity, justice and fairness in the balance of power by supporting the emergence of the Senate Chief Whip and former Governor of Abia State, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK) as the next Senate President.

According to An All progressive Congress National Assembly Member Elect from the North West who attended the meeting and who does not want his identity to be revealed, Senators from North East and North West Zone despite delivering the highest number of votes in the Presidential Election that ensured the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu resolved to put the interest and unity of Nigeria above sectional interest and thus unanimously endorsed the aspiration of Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to become the next President of the Nigerian Senate.

When prodded for further reasons on why the senators settled for Sen. Kalu, The lawmaker described Senator Kalu as an experienced high ranking Senator from the South Eastern geo political zone whose loyalty and relationship with Northern Senators over the years has remained unwavering, He further possessed the maturity, leadership and unifying qualities expected from a senate President, His indelible landmark achievements in the National Assembly is unrivaled having sponsored over twenty five bills and moved motions that united the country. futhermore, His emergence as the Senate President will quell all the agitations and restiveness of youths occasioned by perceived exclusion of South East Zone in political position”.

“Our firm resolve is that with Sen. Kalu as the Chairman of the National Assembly as well as the President of the Senate, He will synegise with the Executive to deliver democratic dividends to the Nigerian Populace.”
