Sen. T.A Orji, Abia Speaker Not Arrested by EFCC — Aide

The Special Assistant on Media to the Speaker Abia State House of Assembly, Promise Uzoma Okoro has denied online news report that his boss, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji and his father, the Senator representing Abia Central, T.A Orji have been arrested by the EFCC.

A news report on Igbere TV, popular online news medium earlier on Friday had it that the Speaker and his father have been arrested.

The news medium is allegedly under attack after the abduction of the Editor-in-chief, James Emeh Anyalekwa on Thursday.

In a statement made available to ABN TV on Friday by Mr. Okoro, he said “Disregard the Fake news that the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly Rt.Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji and the Senator Representing Abia Central Senatorial District has been arrested by the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The Owners of Igbere TV whose platform was used to publish that fake Rumour is claiming that their Facebook page and Website was hacked.

“The Speaker was never arrested by EFCC, the General Public should discountenance such Fake rumour”.
