Security is Everyone’s Business, Not Federal Government’s Alone – Senate President Akpabio

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has emphasized the critical role state governments and citizens play in ensuring security across Nigeria, stressing that the responsibility cannot be left solely to the federal government.

Akpabio made the statement while addressing concerns over rising security challenges, noting that achieving a secure nation requires collective effort at all levels.

“State governments have a role to play, and they cannot hand over security to the federal government alone; security is everybody’s business,” Akpabio stated. “If we need to be secure, every Nigerian must be part of the security.”

The Senate President’s remarks highlight the need for active participation from state governments, local authorities, and individuals in supporting security agencies to address challenges such as banditry, insurgency, and other forms of criminality across the country.
