Roundtable Dialogue Best Approach To Solve Agitation In Southeast — Presbyterian Priest

A priest of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Barr. Uche Kalu Ibe has said the separatist agitation going on in the Southeast region of the country can be solved through dialogue with young persons to give way for reaching a compromise.

According to the clergy who was a Guest Speaker at the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Solid Rock Parish Umuahia, Abia State at their Harvest and Thanksgiving service on Sunday, the issues have not been approached in the right perspective, noting that the right thing has not been done.

Speaking with ABN TV on Sunday, Rev. Ibe said the agitators should rather be engaged in a discussion instead of being shut out.

“We need to talk, talk to our young ones, don’t shut them out, they are human beings, they have their constitutional rights.

“So bring them let them sit down, find out what is wrong, let leaders also come so that we arrive at a compromise” he advised.

The cleric also expressed disappointment that people are hiding under the cloak of tribalism, religion, and politics to destroy Nigeria.

He insisted that Nigeria is in crisis, calling on leaders to stop being economical with the truth

“When I talk about leadership, I am talking about three layers of leadership; religious, political, and traditional leaders.

“If our leaders can come up with the right sense of judgment, from Mr. President to Governors, let us avoid this cloak of pretense and come out with the truth.

“We can sit down and solve the problem. The problem is not beyond us. We have the capacity to solve Nigeria’s problem. Let us be forthright” he urged.
