Real Madrid signing Toni Rudiger has revealed that he was delighted to have spoken with former Brazilian star, Ronaldo Nazario after joining the Spanish side.
Recall that Ronaldo is the owner of Real Valladolid but retains close ties to Real Madrid.
Former Chelsea defender Rudiger said, “Ronaldo played in the 2002 final against Germany sporting a very distinctive haircut. When we were kids playing football in the street, Ronaldo was our idol. When I signed, I spoke to him on a video call. I was excited and very nervous at the same time.
“I’m a player with a strong character, but I think it’s best to leave the rest to others and not to talk too much about yourself.
“I think it’s hard to improve your speed, but I’m lucky because it’s something I have thanks to my genetics and I’m really pleased about that.
“But most of all I can laugh at myself. Since Toni Kroos is already in the team, and I don’t like to be called Antonio, I’d like people to call me Rudi”.
