Ribadu Provides Relief To 500 Flood-Affected Households In Adamawa

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has distributed relief materials to 500 households affected by last Sunday’s devastating flood in Adamawa State.

At the distribution event on Saturday, Alhaji Mustapha Ribadu, Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adamawa State Chapter, said the initiative aimed to ease the suffering of flood victims.

Mustapha Ribadu, who is the younger brother of the NSA, explained that the flood caused significant damage to homes, livelihoods, and critical infrastructure in parts of Yola South Local Government Area.

Each affected household received a bag of rice, cartons of spaghetti and Indomie noodles, a gallon of cooking oil, blankets, mats, brocade fabrics, and children’s clothing.

He emphasized that the distribution was preceded by a thorough screening and verification process to ensure transparency and fairness.

An ad hoc relief committee made up of party officials and community leaders in Yola South conducted extensive visits to all affected communities to assess the damage and identify genuine victims.

“Our approach was thorough and people-centred. We didn’t want the relief to go to the wrong hands. That’s why we visited every impacted community, met with the affected households, and ensured only those truly affected benefited from this support,” Ribadu said.

He described the flood’s impact as devastating, with many victims losing their homes, livelihoods, and possessions, leaving them in dire need.

To ensure inclusivity, special arrangements were made to deliver relief packages directly to those unable to attend the public distribution due to health, age, or other challenges.

Additionally, the NSA has committed to further assistance for families whose homes were destroyed or rendered uninhabitable.

“This is not just a political gesture; it is a humanitarian response driven by empathy and a genuine desire to help our people rebuild and recover,” Ribadu affirmed.

“More interventions are being prepared to help families reconstruct their lives and regain some sense of normalcy. We will continue the distribution as more victims are verified until every affected person is reached.”

Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support. Janet Adebisi, a resident of Shagari End of the Road, said the aid arrived at a crucial time for her family.

“This is the first relief we have received since the flood turned our lives upside down. What the NSA and Mustapha Atiku Ribadu have done is not just generous—it’s truly exceptional. This help means a lot to my family,” she shared.

She added that the intervention had restored hope amid despair and appealed for continued support to rebuild the community.
