Rev Uche Ume Files N5 Billion Defamation Suit Against KAAtruths Podcast Host, Kelvin Amobi

The Senior Pastor of Power World Ministries International, Rev. Dr. Uche Ume, has instituted a N5 billion defamation lawsuit against Mr. Kelvin Armstrong Amobi, host of the popular KAAtruths Podcast, over alleged defamatory content disseminated across several social media platforms.

Also joined in the suit is Mr. Wisdom Ogo Uzochukwu, who reportedly made damaging remarks during a guest appearance on the podcast. The lawsuit, filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, is being handled by Barr. Maxwell Okpara of Chibunnam Chambers, representing Rev. Ume.

According to court documents, the claimants are seeking a declaration that the statements made against Rev. Ume are “false, malicious, unjustified, injurious, unwarranted, instigating, and calculated to bring the Claimants into public odium, ridicule, and disdain.”

The lawsuit alleges that videos posted on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube portrayed Rev. Ume as a “criminal” and “fraudster,” and accused him of staging fake miracles—claims the cleric vehemently denies.

Key reliefs sought in the suit include:

N5 billion in general damages for the alleged defamation of Rev. Ume’s reputation and goodwill.

N50 million in exemplary damages for what is described as a false and injurious publication.

A court order compelling the defendants to retract the statements via two national newspapers and the same online platforms used to disseminate the original content, within 48 hours of judgment.

A perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from making any further defamatory statements.

The writ of summons served on Mr. Amobi and Mr. Uzochukwu directs them to enter an appearance within twenty-one days or risk judgment being entered in their absence.

This legal battle marks a significant pushback from Rev. Ume, who insists on clearing his name and preserving the integrity of his ministry. The burden now lies with Mr. Amobi and his guest to defend their claims before the court.
