The former governor of Abia State and the senator representing Abia North, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu has emphasized the need to return Local Government Areas (LGAs) funds hundred percent and ensure capable individuals with good records are elected as Chairmen, ABN TV reports.
He made this statement during a Senate plenary session, stressing that this is the only way to remedy the current challenges facing the country.
According to the Chairman of Senate Committee on Privatization, Senator Kalu, empowering LGAs with full financial autonomy and electing competent leaders will enable them to effectively address grassroots development and security issues.
He urged his colleagues to support the move towards strengthening Local Government autonomy, highlighting its potential to transform the nation.
