Rep Onuigbo Pledges Continous Investment In Sports As Ibere Community Wins In Men, Women Categories Of 2021 Ikwuano Unity Cup

The young men and women of Ibere community in Ikwuano local government area of Abia State have emerged victorious in the just concluded 2021 Ikwuano Unity Cup.

This is even as the sponsor of the football tournament and the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency, Honourable Sam Onuigbo pledges to continue investment in sports to keep the young men and women in the constituency engaged and ensure they stay away from crime.

The Ibere team has won the tournament consecutively in the past three years.

Receiving the victorious teams, the federal lawmaker commended the teams for their resilience and doggedness while the tournament lasted as well as all the participating teams.

Onuigbo who has in the past six years been sponsoring the annual Ibere Unity Cup, and the Obuohia Obi-Ibere League which sees the winners, first and second runners up, highest goal scorers, Best Players, Best Goalkeepers, provided with financial rewards noted that sports is a veritable tool to enhance the physical, psychological and financial development of youths the world over

While expressing delight as a son of Ibere over the victory of the teams, he pledged to continue providing young people in the federal constituency with the opportunity to develop their talents and become useful members of the society.

He said, “Fully aware of the importance sports to our youths, I have for over six years now been sponsoring the annual Ibere Unity Cup, and the Obuohia Obi-Ibere League, with winners, first and second runners up, highest goal scorers, Best Players, Best Goalkeepers, provided with financial rewards. Indeed, the Ibere Unity Cup has proven over the past three years to be a solid and productive practice platform for Ibere young men who have now consecutively won the Ikwuano Unity Cup thrice!

“Today, I am proud to be receiving the Ibere men and women teams who emerged victorious at the male and female categories of the 2021 Ikwuano Unity Cup. I cannot be prouder as a son of Ibere.

“In addition, we are using this medium to present trophy and cash rewards to the victorious teams of the 2021 Obuohia Obi-Ibere League. I see this as a means of keeping the youths busy, ensuring that they shun a life of crime, and providing them with the opportunity to develop their talents. We will continue to do so.
