According to her, between 2007-2008 when our market, “Ahia Ama, became so dilapidated and lost to us, we began to make efforts to resuscitate this market so that it can once again be the source of livelihood and engagement for our teaming women and their counterparts from all over the neighbouring villages, from Nkari, in Akwa-Ibom State to all Ikwuano and Umuahia”.
She added that Markets have not only been financial outlets for them, but it has also served as social platforms for them to socialise, share ideas, and therapeutically heal sometimes.
Her words, “That was why we decided to tax ourselves to rebuild this market. Fortunately for us, our beloved son and husband, Rep. Sam Onuigbo promised that he would make efforts to ensure that he solves the problem for us.
I must point out that since the year 2000, Rep. Onuigbo has been a constant in our annual August Meetings and had contributed financially to all our projects”.
The Vice President General of Obuohia Obi-Ibere women association, Mrs Glory Akubuokwu Oru thanked the facilitator of the market stalls, Sam Onuigbo, reiterated that the market has return to it’s original standard where women raise revenue for themselves.
