Rep. Amobi Ogah Mourns Passing Of Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Onanuga

Rep. Amobi Godwin Ogah, representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, has expressed profound grief over the death of Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives.

Hon. Onanuga, who represented Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, after a brief illness.

In a heartfelt condolence message, Rep. Ogah described Hon. Onanuga as an exceptional lawmaker whose dedication to service and legislative excellence impacted the National Assembly.

“Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga was a compassionate leader and a tireless advocate for her people. Her demise is a significant loss to the House of Representatives and the entire nation. She will be sorely missed,” Rep. Ogah said.

Born on December 2, 1965, Hon. Onanuga began her legislative journey in 2019 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). During her time in the 9th Assembly, she chaired the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, where she played a pivotal role in advancing women’s empowerment and social welfare initiatives. Re-elected in 2023, she served as the Deputy Chief Whip in the 10th Assembly, earning widespread respect for her leadership and dedication.

Rep. Ogah extended his condolences to the family of the late lawmaker, the people of Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, and members of the National Assembly. He prayed for the repose of her soul and for strength and comfort for all who mourn her passing.
