The people of Umuajiji Isieke Ibeku in Umuahia North LGA, Abia State are currently heaving a sigh of relief as renowned philanthropist and community leader, Hon. Victor Okechukwu Apugo donates a brand new electricity transformer.

The donation on Thursday is aimed at addressing the long-standing power issues in the area.

Speaking with ABN TV, Hon. Martin Apugo said, My brother installed the transformer for our people, Isieke community. They have gained a lot of trust because I know that there have been transformer issues over here.

“So now it’s good that they have been separated. They are going to have full current all the time. No more half-current. Most of the time, because I share the same transformer with them, sometimes for one week we don’t have light. But now that they have been separated, I think they will be having light constantly. That’s what it is. They should keep it up because more things are coming. More good things are coming.”

Hon. Chukwudi Apugo highlighted this in his remarks, saying, “First of all, I want to thank him for having the mind to do this. This is a very high-quality community development, and it takes a lot of zeal for the development for him to do this. I want to thank him for this. This is a welcome development. The things that we need to tell our people is that no matter where you are staying and you have the resources, you should come back and help our people. I urge him to do more. We’re expecting him to do more. God will give him the grace, the enablement, the energy to keep them in good health and for them to do more.”

Residents of the community also shared their joy over the new transformers.

Chigozie Chima expressed his happiness, saying, “What’s happening in my community is a new dawn. You can see people are here rejoicing. We are very, very happy about that. My prayer is God will lead him, give him long life, and give him prosperity to remember the poor. That’s my prayer for him.”

Chuks Chukezie, another resident, added, “We gather because of the installation of our transformer. For a long time, the transformer we were using would work one day, and the next day, the light would go off. But now, since the installation of the new transformer, anytime there is light, we have full current without any problem. It’s a thing of joy for us here. We have been living peacefully with him, and we will continue to live peacefully with him. This is just the beginning. There are more great things that will come.”

The installation of the transformers was expertly carried out by licensed electrical contractor Mr. Ndu, who shared his experience. “I believe when we started this work, we came here, and Honorable Victor commissioned this transformer. He paid the most attention to this place. There had been no current in this place, so we installed a 300 KVA transformer for this community. Since then, we have been using light, and I thank God and the honorable man, Victor, for his good work. I hope God will give him the zeal to do more.”

Mrs. Winifred Ekeleme summed up the community’s sentiments, saying, “What I saw today is very good, so I thank God.”
