The MD/CEO Pauli Mama Group, Chief Amobi Ogah (Agu Neche Ibe 1) has said his annual Christmas eve outreach to widows in Abia is a covenant he made with God which he would continue to keep as much as God gives him ability.
Chief Amobi, an oil and gas expert spoke with ABN TV on Friday at his country home in Onuaku, Uturu in Isuikwuato local government area of Abia State during the distribution of wrappers and other gift items to widows.
Chief Amobi, brother to the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Uchechukwu Samson Ogah who noted that as a child, he saw his mother using only one wrapper, added that he is inspired to touch the lives of widows because of what his mother went through.
“It is a promise I have made to God. I am from a polygamous family. My mother suffered so much. Even at the age of 17, my mother only had one wrapper.
“Today, it’s a turnaround story. I made this promise the moment I started making money, that I will always put smile in the faces of widows.
“Experience is the best teacher. When you do not experience, you will not understand what I am saying. We were born 9. 8 boys and a girl from my mother alone, not to talk of my step mothers. It was hell for us”, he said.
Chief Amobi said he celebrates 24th of December more than any other day, adding that the aim is to give widows in his community reasons to celebrate joyfully at Christmas.
The annual outreach which has been ongoing since 2008 according to Chief Ogah attracts hope for widows, saying they see it as a routine practice to visit his home on every 24th of December.
“Even for any reason I don’t celebrate my Christmas in this community, I must send items to my mother to distribute on my behalf” he added.
Chief Ogah said seeing people overwhelmed with happiness at his home on the 24th of December gives him happiness and fulfillment.
One of the widows Mr. Agnes Ekwe who could not hide her tears of joy prayed God to continue to enrich Chief Amobi and protect him in all he does.
