The Second Edition of Abia State Schools Quiz Competition organised by Ray Nkemdirim Foundation in Collaboration with Abia State Ministry of Education, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS, Flo 94.9 FM and other partners kicked off during the week with Local Government Preliminaries.
The competition which held at different centres across Abia State saw the emergence of Local Government Champions who would slog it out at the zonal levels.
At the Boys Technical College, BTC Aba, on Tuesday, Okigwe Road Secondary School emerged as Champions from Aba North, Victory College International finished tops from Aba South and Divine Christian College won from Osisioma.
Living Word Magnet Secondary School, Umuahia North, Extra point Model Secondary School, Umuahia South and Michael Okpara University Demonstration School, Ikwuano also booked their zonal spots from the local government series held at SEMB Hall Umuahia on Thursday.
At Isiukwuato High School, Gilgal International Classic College of Isiukwuato finished tops to join last years finalists, Holy Brilliant College, Alayi of Bende Local Government Area for the next stage.
The competition is progressing with the remaining Local Government Areas. So far 102 schools have participated with the grand finale set for June 30th at Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia.
Coordinator of Ray Nkemdirim Foundation, Uche Ama-Ohakah who is elated by the increased participation by schools said the competition has been fair and thoroughly supervised by Abia State Scholarship Board, NAPPS, SEMB and others.
