Abia State government has asked traders operating at Ishigate at the centre of Umuahia, the capital to relocate to government approved markets immediately.
The permanent secretary of ministry of trade and investment, Michael Egwu stated this in Umuahia while reacting to sudden resurgence of trading at the spot.
He, therefore advised the traders to choose between Ubani Ibeku Modern Market or Relief Market, Amuzukwe which he said would be more conducive for their businesses.
Egwu, who decried the chaotic situation at the spot due to the business activities, added that government would not condone activities that would deface the capital.
Recall that in 2013, Umuahia Main Market which was at the centre of Umuahia and near Umuahia Railway Station had been demolished by the government.
The Sen Theodore Orji administration said the market which was established by the colonialist in the mid 30s, had to go to decongest and improve the aesthetics of the capital.
