PSG Attempt To Hijack Osimhen’s Transfer As Napoli Exclude Striker From Pre-Season Camp

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly making a late attempt to hijack Victor Osimhen’s proposed move to Galatasaray, following the Nigerian striker’s exclusion from Napoli’s pre-season training camp.

The 26-year-old returned to Napoli after a stellar loan spell with Galatasaray, where he netted an impressive 37 goals in 41 appearances. However, he was among six players left out of the 30-man squad heading to Dimaro Folgarida for pre-season preparations under new manager Antonio Conte.

Osimhen reportedly submitted a medical note to excuse himself from pre-season medical tests, as he continues to push for a permanent move to the Turkish champions. Galatasaray are in negotiations with Napoli over a €75 million transfer, with discussions focused on payment structure.

However, French giants PSG have entered the fray. According to L’Équipe, sporting director Luis Campos—who previously signed Osimhen at Lille in 2019—has been in direct contact with the forward, aiming to derail Galatasaray’s move. Campos’ prior relationship with Osimhen could play a key role in swaying the striker’s decision.

Despite receiving a lucrative offer from a Saudi club, Osimhen is said to be open to continuing with Galatasaray, where he enjoyed a highly successful loan stint.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed ongoing talks via X (formerly Twitter): “Negotiations between Napoli and Galatasaray for Victor Osimhen are again underway right now. Napoli sent their counter-proposal to Galatasaray, ready to make a decision soon on new conditions. Osimhen keeps waiting.”

Napoli are standing firm on their €75 million valuation despite Osimhen’s release clause expiring earlier this week. The Serie A side is reportedly seeking €50 million upfront, with the remaining €25 million due by the end of 2026. Galatasaray has agreed to secure the deal with a letter of credit to guarantee payment, although bureaucratic delays may slow finalization.

Notably, former agent Bruno Satin, who once represented Napoli legend Kalidou Koulibaly, expressed skepticism over Osimhen’s fit at PSG. Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Satin said:

“Osimhen? I don’t know if PSG can count on him. Luis Enrique prefers a false nine setup with Dembele rather than a traditional striker. Signing Victor could disrupt the current system.”

Alongside Osimhen, five other players—Cyril Ngonge, Walid Cheddira, Jesper Lindstrom, Michael Folorunsho, Jens Cajuste, and Giuseppe Ambrosino—have also been left out of Napoli’s pre-season squad, further fuelling speculation around potential departures.
