PSC Promotes 27 Senior Police Officers, Elevates 11 to AIG Rank

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 27 senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force following its 2nd plenary meeting held on December 16, 2024.

This includes 11 Commissioners of Police (CPs) promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs) and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs).

The officers underwent rigorous written and oral examinations at the PSC Corporate Headquarters as part of the promotion process. PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd.), emphasized that written and oral assessments will now be a standard requirement for all police promotions, aimed at enhancing proficiency and adherence to global best practices, particularly in ICT.

The following officers have been promoted to the rank of AIG:

3. Abayomi Peter Oladipo – CP Ondo State
4. Taiwo Olatunde Adeleke – CP SWAT, FCID Abuja
5. Ibrahim Abdullahi, mni – CP Kaduna State
6. Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka – CP PPP, DLS, Force Headquarters Abuja
7. Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, mni – CP Ekiti State
8. Zubairu Abubakar – CP Courses, Police Staff College, Jos
9. Fom Pam Joseph, psc(+) – CP Homicide, FCID Abuja
10. Emuobo Fred Ekokotu, fdc – CP Admin, Airwing Abuja
11. Garba Musa Yusuf – Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos

DIG Taiwo Lakanu, fdc, a PSC Commissioner and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Police Promotions, led the oral interviews. He advised the newly promoted officers to uphold the responsibilities of their new roles, pledging that the PSC will continue to reward excellence and merit-based performance.

The plenary meeting will continue on December 17, 2024.
