Prominent Ukwa Son Commends Gov Ikpeazu For Appointing Prof Ogbulu ABSU VC

A prominent son of Owaza in Ukwa land, Mr Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, has commended the Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, for appointing an Ukwa indigene as the Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu.

The Secretary to the Abia State government, Barr Chris Ezem, had in a special government announcement, said Gov Ikpeazu had approved the appointment of Prof Onyemachi Maxwell Ogbulu as the new Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University with effect from December 1, 2020, following the formal presentation of the recommendation of the Governing Council of the University led by Senator Adolphus Wabara.

In a statement made available today, Ogbonna, who is a Port Harcourt based financial expert and Chief Executive Officer of Cajajuc Investments Limited, described Prof Ogbulu as an illustrious son of Abia known for his academic brilliance, industry, honesty, and service to humanity, adding that Abia State University was fortunate to have such a personality at a time like this.

He expressed confidence that Ogbulu would bring his experiences as a banker and business guru to bear on the administration of the University.

Ogbonna enjoined the new VC to look inwards to ensure that there was a remarkable improvement in the capacity of the University to generate income to assist itself meet basic needs, stressing that commitment into technological research was bound to further elevate the status of the University.

Professor Ogbulu, from Mkporobe in Ukwa East Local Government Area, is presently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), of the Abia State University.
