The Proprietor/Chancellor Gregory University Uturu, Prof Gregory Ibe has announced the offer of a scholarship to the third son late Abia Environment Commissioner, Solomon Ogunji.
The beneficiary is to study Gregory University Uturu on scholarship.
He made the announcement on Tuesday during a condolence visit to the family of late Commissioner.
Prof. Ibe who was trapped in New York for a period of six months and one week due to outbreak of the novel COVID-19 pandemic embarked on 14 days in self-isolation after which he embarked on tour of condolence visits.
During the Tuesday visit, he observed that the death of Ogunji will be felt in the area of decontaminating public places in the state, a task Prof. Ibe said Dr. Ogunji was passionate about.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Deputy Registrar, Media and Public Relations, Sleek Ogbonnaya Ogwo, Prof. Ibe extolled Dr. Ogunji’s contribution in governance process, particularly in the Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

“Arriving the residence of the Ogunji family, Prof Ibe regretted that the task of decontaminating public places in Abia state which the late Dr Solomon Ogunji, as commissioner for environment, passionately handled with a team from Gregory University Uturu seemed to be his last undertaking before death came calling.
“While recounting the plethora of strategic roles played by the late commissioner, especially in the act of governance in particular and the affairs of Ohanaeze Ndigbo by extension, the Chancellor lamented the unfortunate tragedy and prayed God to console the immediate family, the state and the Igbo nation. He pledged comprehensive assistance to the burial arrangements and promptly announced the offer of tuition-free scholarship to the late commissioner’s third son to enable him study in Gregory University Uturu” the statement read.
