President Buhari Makes Two Appointments Hours After Sacking Aide

Hours after sacking one aide of the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, and redeploying three others to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday approved the appointment of two more personal aides to the First Lady’s office.

This is according to a statement signed on Saturday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

In the statement titled ‘President Buhari approves two personal aides to the first lady,’ Shehu revealed that A’isha Rimi, a law graduate of the University of Buckingham in England is appointed as the first lady’s Senior Special Assistant on Legal Matters.

The statement continued, “A’isha is a resourceful administrative executive and a founding partner at Africa Law Practice, a commercial law firm in Nigeria.

“The President has also approved the appointment of Dr Zabah Jawa as Personal Physician to the First Lady.

“Dr Jawa is a Senior Consultant in Nuclear medicine and European Certified in Nuclear Medicine.

“He is a Fellow of the College of Radiologists of Nigeria and Fellow of the South African College of Nuclear Physicians.”

In a drastic move earlier on Saturday, Buhari redeployed three aides of the first lady to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and sacked the First Lady’s assistant on Domestic and Social events.

This is as he approved the appointment of journalist, politician, and former lawmaker, Muhammad Zorro, as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs and Strategy, Office of the First Lady.

At the insistence of the First Lady, the President also approved the immediate redeployment of three of the political appointees in her office to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, pending their assignment to some other government departments or agencies.

Those affected by the redeployment are: Dr Mohammed Abdulrahman who was Senior Special Assistant to the President on Health and Development Partners and Personal Physician to the First Lady, Hadi Uba who was Special Assistant to the President on Administration, and Wole Aboderin who was Special Assistant to the President on Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs.

Also approved with effect from February 11, is the disengagement of Zainab Kazeem, the Special Assistant to the President on Domestic and Social Events, Office of the First Lady.

Although the reason for the sack, redeployments, and new appointments remain unknown as of the time of this report, it comes barely 48 hours after the first lady was spotted on an evening train returning from Kaduna to Abuja.
