Presbyterian Church Elects Ekpenyong Akpanika As New Prelate

The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN) has elected a new national leader, Most Rev. Dr. Ekpenyong Akpanika who succeeds The Most Rev. Nzie Nsị Eke, whose six-year tenure has ended, ABN TV reports.

His is Most Rev. Dr. Ekpenyong Akpanika, who was unanimously elected as the Prelate and Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church at 25th General Assembly meeting held at the Presbyterian Church Of Nigeria, Hope Waddell Parish Sanctuary Calabar Synod, Cross River.

Most Rev. Dr. Ekpenyong Akpanika scored 451 votes to emerge the winner while his closest rival, Rev. Daniel Etim scored 355 votes.

Rev Akpanika holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree in Religious Studies, the University of Calabar, Nigeria, and a Master of Theology (Th. M) from Western Theological Seminary, Holland, Michigan, U.S.A.

He bagged a Ph.D. in Sociology of Religion, from the University of Calabar; specializing in Religion and Social Gerontology. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (P.G.D.E) from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.

He is a one-time missionary to the Republics of Benin/Togo Francophone Mission Presbytery and the National Director of Youth Programmes of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria.
